Updated with new turf and a video board, England Stadium, given by Forrest “Frosty” England ’35 and Lois Batterton England ’36, is the home to Illinois College football, men’s and women’s soccer and outdoor track & field. England Stadium has a seating capacity of 1,468 as well as viewing areas surrounding the perimeter.
The Green Athletic Field, provided by Dr. James L. Green ’61 and Mrs. Cathleen C. Green, is used for home games for the football and soccer teams as well as hosting various intramural events. Green Athletic Field has also been used for a variety of camps during the summer months. Green Athletic Field replaced its grass surface with a synthetic turf playing field in 2007.
Surrounding Green Athletic Field is the Ware Family Track. The Ware Family Track, given by Jon and June Ware, is used for home meets for the outdoor track & field team at IC. The track incudes eight 400-meter lanes, long jump pits and areas for high jump and pole vault. The throwing events are held nearby at the Hoagland Athletic Fields. The cross country teams practice on the Ware Family Track, but compete across town at Nichols Park.
Light fixtures were placed surrounding England Stadium in the summer of 2014. The new lights now provide the different athletic programs at Illinois College the availability to participate in practices and games “under the lights.”
